TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (7011.TO) said Friday it has started construction of a $100 million nacelle factory in the U.S. state of Arkansas as scheduled.

The nacelle is a shell that contains the inner workings of a wind turbine.

Low carbon emission technologies is one of the areas the Japanese manufacturer is focusing on for its future growth.

The Arkansas factory is due to begin operations in the autumn of 2011 and create more than 300 jobs.
